    Licensed Practical Nurse IV (LPN IV), Full-time 7p-7a, Emergency Department

    UC Health is hiring a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the emergency department for the night shift at West Chester Hospital.

    The Emergency Department Nurse will support West Chester Hospital's emergency room (ER) and Level III Trauma Center, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.

    Unit Details:

    • West Chester Hospital is a certified Level III trauma center which shares providers with our Level I trauma center, UC Medical Center, in downtown Cincinnati.

    • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
    • Current OH LPN License with IV Certification
    • Prior LPN experience preferred

LPN (IV) will have successfully completed a Board approved basic intravenous therapy course. The LPN, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), performs duties which require a basic knowledge of nursing principles and the ability to perform technical skills in carrying out nursing procedures that are culturally based and age-specific.

    • Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care and demonstrates ability to establish priorities of care based on patient's assessment and needs.
    • Contributes recommendations to the RN regarding the interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with other healthcare team members within the time frame indicated by unit's standards of practice.
    • Provides input to the RN regarding establishing and prioritizing a list of actual, and potential, individualized age-specific patient problems and/or needs.
    • Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
    • Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
    • Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit.
    • Nursing process is accurately and concisely documented, including evaluation of treatment and in accordance to hospital policy and procedure.
    • Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit.
    • Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others.
