    Job Description

    Job DescriptionJewish Council for Youth Services (JCYS) is a 116-year-old, Chicago-based nonprofit agency that provides early childhood education and camp programs to children of all religions, races, and ethnicities across Chicagoland.

    We are looking for a Lifeguard to join our Big City Day Camp located in the Lincoln Square/Ravenswood area. These positions will last from June 10th through August 9th, 2024.

    This position can be a fun role if you like being outside and helping children have a safe and memorable summer camp experience

    Responsibilities:

    • Supervise campers at the pool to ensure safety
    • Enforce pool policies
    • Perform water rescues as necessary
    • Elevate concerns and complaints to the Camp Director or appropriate manager in a timely manner
    • Attend and participate in training sessions and staff/group meetings as required
    • Be a positive role model to campers
    • Abide by JCYS Employee Handbook and follow all policies and procedures

    Requirements:

    • Certified in Red Cross Lifeguarding including not only water rescue methods, but also first-aid practices and techniques.
    • Ability to pass a pre-screen swim test of 200 yards.
    • Demonstrate sound judgment and good decision making skills
    • Positive and energetic attitude
    • At least 18 years old
    • Attend camp training and work the duration of camp
