- Oversee a team of Experimental Engineers performing project management and campaign preparations. Work with scientific collaborators to support unique campaign needs.
- Serve as a project manager for system upgrades and/or new facility equipment. Track progress of team's projects and provide technical input
- Stand watch at least once a week as Experimental Operations Operation and/or Shot Director. Shift flexibility is required (Morning and Evening shifts)
- Monitor shot-day experimental configuration and data integrity. Aid Scientific collaborators interpretation of shot data as necessary
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn additional software operation
- Technical writing experience and/or experience delivering training material
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong interpersonal skills working in a team-based environment
- Experience with VISRAD or other similar CAD software
- Strong experience level with mechanical assembly of systems including optical, vacuum, and electrical components
- Proficiency reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics
- Use and specification of HMI software
- Previous supervisory experience
- Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics field and 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) of the University of Rochester is a unique national resource for research and education in science and technology.
LLE was established in 1970 as a center for the investigation of the interaction of intense radiation with matter.The Facility Operations Division is seeking a Section Leader to oversee the Experimental Operations engineering team.
A successful candidate will be challenged by overseeing a team of engineers who support complex campaign planning, operational equipment and aiding in the design of incoming diagnostics.

Pay Range
Pay Range:
$95,306 - $142,979 Annually
_The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job.
Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
