    JOB SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:# #Maintains, repairs and operates mechanical equipment for steam generation, ventilation, pnuematics and cooling systems. # 1.######## Maintains, repairs and operates mechanical equipment for steam generation, ventilation, pnuematics and cooling systems. Installs, maintains, adjusts, modifies heating, refrigeration and air conditioning systems and equipment. Maintains and repairs refrigerating/power plant equipment to ensure maximum operating efficiency. Makes repairs and adjustments as required and in accordance with manufacturer#s specifications and operation manuals. Reads and interprets blue prints, schematics and specifications; estimate time and material requirements. Performs preventive maintenance and safety inspections of machines/equipment. Replaces worn and defective parts on equipment.# Maintains proper water conditioning boilers and cleans boilers and other equipment. Moves equipment, materials and supplies as needed. Lubricates compressors, motors, generators and other moving mechanisms. # 2.######## Reviews work orders, priority status, designated time schedules and performs required assignments.# # 3.######## Works effectively as a team member within department and with ######### customers to provide quality service through communication, cooperation ####### and collaboration.###### Interacts and works collaboratively with patient/family/hospital staff in a customer responsive and courteous manner, in compliance with iRESPECT standards and promoting patient/customer satisfaction. Assists personnel when needed by performing tasks to ensure department meets workload demands. Communicates effectively and follows-up with ##### engineering and other hospital personnel regarding work orders and inspection/repair activities. Answers dispatched calls and responds to emergency alarm/ communication systems accordingly. # 4.######## Maintains confidentiality in matters relating to patient/family, department and hospital information.# Adheres to established department and organization policies (i.e. HIPAA, Confidentiality and Compliance Policies). # 5.######## Maintains required department records, reports and files including safety inspections and repair records. Adheres to established department policies, procedures, objectives, compliance/quality improvement with consideration given to risk management, infection control and patient safety. # 6.######## Maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment for patients and personnel. Cleans and assists with care and maintenance of department tools and equipment and utilizes supplies in a cost effective manner.# Reports malfunction of equipment to supervisor.# # 7.######## Completes required continuous training and education, including, department specific requirements.# # 8.######## Provides coverage for relief and absences.# Demonstrates flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays to provide continuous coverage as required. # 9.######## Performs other duties as required. # MACHINES OR EQUIPMENT OPERATED:# All power plant and steam generating equipment plus working knowledge of equipment used in areas of plumbing, refrigeration and ventilation, general maintenance carpentry and electricity. # JOB REQUIREMENTS: # EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent. #Completion of a steam/refrigeration program. # EXPERIENCE:# Thirty-six (36) months HVAC experience or related skilled crafts or trade or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.# # KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of standard HVAC concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications; work from sketches and verbal instructions. Demonstrates ability to effectively utilize judgment to plan and accomplish work goals in a timely manner.# Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team environment and exhibit customer service skills. # LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION:# First Class Steam and Refrigeration License. # PHYSICAL DEMANDS:# Constant standing, walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, twisting, reaching, handling, and kneeling; color vision, hand/eye coordination and dexterity; exposure to hazards from use of electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment.# Medium Work - Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.# (May be further defined as #with or without assistance#).
