    Summer Day Camp Cook

    Location: Cassville YMCA, Dallas County YMCA, Lebanon YMCA, Monet YMCA , Ozark Mountain.

    Reports to: School Age Services Director

    Wage Range: $15.00/per hour

    JOB Status: Seasonal/Temporary/Non-Exempt

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Summer Day Camp Cook at Ozarks Regional YMCA ensures that childcare food programs meet the need and standards. The position involves actively engaging with children, creating and openly communicating. All site-specific required training is provided.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Review camp menus and inventory under the direction of the Child Nutrition Director.
    2. Prepare and serve meals (breakfast & lunch) which meet the standards set by the Summer Food Service Program
    3. Keep articulate record as required for reimbursement of meals.
    4. Responsible for the inventory of all meal related items.
    5. Responsible for proper distribution of grant related meal packages and documentation.
    6. Ensure proper food service standards, including food storage and kitchen cleanliness.
    7. Provide outstanding and consistent customer service to all camp participants.
    8. Attend staff meetings and trainings May 28-31, 2024
    9. Responsible for strict adherence to policies and procedures related to safety and other regulations.

    Qualifications:

    • Must be 18 years old and prior experience with youth and/or a food service setting.
    • Must be available throughout the Summer, May-August
    • Requires successful completion of staff trainings May 28-31, 2024
    • Must have or attain Missouri Serve Safe certification prior to camp.
    • Possess a practical understanding and comprehensive knowledge of food service, storage, and cleanliness standards.
    • Exemplify the YMCA core values of "Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility."
    • Able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate changes in program schedule.
    • Successfully complete comprehensive background screening
    • Complete Medical & TB requirement
    • Wear staff uniform & name badge
    • Have reliable transportation

    • Visual and auditory response to critical situations and ability to act swiftly in an emergency
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can be louder at times
