    Job Description:

    We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading design projects in a team, providing technical expertise, and driving innovation in product development. The role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of design projects from concept to production.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead and manage mechanical design projects, overseeing all aspects of the design process from concept to production, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
    • Conduct in-depth analysis and feasibility studies to evaluate design concepts, identify potential risks, and propose creative solutions.
    • Create detailed design documentation, including drawings, BOM, specifications, and reports.
    • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers, guide them in the execution of design projects while fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
    • Fabricate and test subsystems using machine shop tools and/or 3D printers.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, to ensure alignment on project goals and successful project execution and product delivery.
    • Participate in design reviews, testing, and validation activities to ensure product performance and reliability.
    • Create and foster relationships with external vendors and contractors when required.
    • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, emerging technologies, and advancements in mechanical design engineering to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related field; masters degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical design engineering with a focus on industrial automation, controls engineering, and scaling up technologies.
    • Experience in battery manufacturing, fuel cells, electroplating, and/or industrial electrolysis industries.
    • Expertise in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Creo) and other design tools to generate mechanical drawings in compliance with GD&T standards.
    • Strong technical expertise in mechanical design, analysis, and testing.
    • Experience in managing and leading design projects in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience in project management, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
    • Strong knowledge and proficiency in using reference materials such as Machinerys Handbook for reference in mechanical design and engineering calculations.
