    Non-Exempt; position is eligible for overtime compensation, however as a condition of employment employees accept compensation time in lieu of payment for any overtime worked.

    Department Information


    The Accounting Office of Adams State University exists to administer the accounting functions of the University in accordance with State, federal and institutional rules, regulations, and procedures.

    Description of Job


    This position exists to manage accounts payable, the University's travel program including flight authorization, travel cards, fleet and rental vehicles.


    Other duties of this position include:

    • Review invoices prior to payment to ensure accuracy.
    • Send emails out to agency personnel to verify receipts of goods.
    • Compute discounts invoice amount and enter invoice information into the ERP system.
    • Verifies billing are correct before submitting payments
    • Establishes and revises office procedure to ensure proper completion of agency travel requests and travel reimbursement requests prior to payments.
    • Approves the issuance of travel activities on the one card.
    • Provide training with regard to travel procedures and travel card usage.
    • ensures compliance with State fiscal rules on travel.
    • Updates campus travel website with written procedures for travel requests and reimbursements.
    • Assist with payroll functions as needed and backs up the payroll manager in their absence.
    • Supervises duties assigned to work-study students including scheduling for office coverage.

    ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN III
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Experience Only:

    Three (3) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position

    OR

    Education and Experience:

    A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to three (3) years

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    The preferred candidate will have experience with as many of the following as possible:
    Experience with ERP systems.
    Excellent interpersonal skills.
    Strong organizational skills.
    Outstanding customer service.
    Detail oriented.
    Experience with MS Office Suite.

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

    Strong problem solving skills
    Ability to work independently
    Ability to make pertinent decisions with autonomy

    A successful candidate will demonstrate responsible professional conduct at all times; will be punctual and observe scheduled work hours; will not abuse leave and will follow call-in procedures. the successful candidate will also follow safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment, when required.

    Years of experience will be expressed in terms of full-time equivalent service with full-time workload equal to one (1) Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) year.

    No more than 1.00 FTE year may be credited in any twelve (12) month period. Positions working 40 hours or less per week will be pro-rated (30 hrs/wk=0.75 FTE=9 mos credit; 20 hrs/wk=0.5 FTE=6 mos credit; 10 hrs/wk=0.25 FTE= 3 mos credit.)

    *Although this position is non-exempt for FLSA, it is a condition of employment at Adams State University to agree to receive compensation time in lieu of overtime pay.
