    Job Title: Senior Applications Developer (Mainframe/COBOL)

    Location: Columbia, SC

    Duration: 12 Months (Possible extension)

    Pay Range: $55/hr to $60/hr. on w2

    Job Title: Senior Applications Developer

    Job Description:

    We are seeking a Senior Applications Developer to join our team responsible for analysis, design, programming, and implementation of complex application tasks and projects within the Core Commercial Claims division. This role involves working primarily onsite on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with some flexibility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in COBOL, DB2, and mainframe technologies, with experience in native CICS and IMS DB considered a plus.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Analyze, design, program, and implement complex application tasks and projects within the Core Commercial Claims division.
    • Collaborate closely with team members in a matrixed environment to ensure project success.
    • Produce deliverables related to assigned projects, meeting quality and deadline requirements.
    • Perform analysis, design, programming, and implementation of systems and procedures to solve complex business problems.
    • Test modified programs, verify logic, debug, and write relevant documentation.
    • Provide guidance to lower-level programmers/analysts and act as an internal consultant on complex projects.
    Required Skills and Abilities:
    • Comprehensive understanding of application development methodologies and mainframe technologies.
    • Proficiency in COBOL, DB2, and mainframe environments.
    • Experience with native CICS and IMS DB considered a plus.
    Team:
    • Core Commercial Claims division consisting of 60 application development staff.
    • Work completed in a matrixed environment based on staff skills and project requirements.
    • Teamwork and collaboration are critical to project success.
    Nice to Have:
    • Experience with native CICS and IMS DB.
    Day to Day:
    • Conduct analysis, design, coding, testing, and implementation of business requirements within the Core Commercial Claims systems.
    • Work effectively in a team environment, communicating verbally and in writing.
    • Adapt to changing requirements and show initiative in learning and growing within the team.
