    JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


    The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Urology, in Hershey, PA is seeking a Human Research Technologist - Health and Medicine.


    The Department of Urology is seeking a Human Research Technologist to support our growing portfolio of clinical research studies (industry and internally funded).

    The Human Research Technologist will have regular interactions with study investigators at the Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center Campus and Penn State College of Medicine.

    Research topics range from urologic cancer treatments, surgical outcomes, patient quality of life, and kidney stone treatment/prevention.


    Responsibilities include:

    • Recruit and enroll subjects for clinical trials
    • Support and organize trial data while maintaining study/subject timelines
    • Collect data, process and ship samples
    • Draft protocols, abstracts and consent forms
    • Abstract patient data from charts in compliance with protocols
    • Review protocols with Principal Investigators (PI) and sponsors
    • Assist with preparations for manuscripts and IRB protocols with Principal Investigators
    • Query, review, and manage study data using RedCap and other software
    This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position (Monday-Friday). Recruitment will take place in urology practices that treat patients within our health system. Applicant must be comfortable working in clinical research settings.

    Familiarity with clinical trials, IRB protocols, remote data capture (e.g., REDCap, Qualtrics), and database management preferred.

    Strong organizational, interpersonal, and excellent communication skills are essential for frequent interaction with research participants, investigators and staff at multiple locations.

    Bachelor's degree or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience are required.

    This is a limited-term appointment funded one year from date of hire; approx. June thru May.


    Typical Education & Experience:
    2+ years related experience

    Associate's Degree or higher; Bachelor's Degree preferred

    Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

    (Medical School enrollee or graduate preferred)

    This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding.

    The following clearances must be successfully completed for this position:


    • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check
    • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History
    • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check
