JOB SUMMARY

An independent, locally governed non-profit delivering premier comprehensive care is looking for a Operating Room Registered Nurse PRN to help in patient care. In this role, the nurse will independently plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care using standards of care and policy and procedure. Patients will receive direct nursing care while assuming teaching and leadership responsibilities. Additionally, the nurse will participate in unit committee and quality improvement activities with minimal supervision.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Florida RN or APRN license.
• One year of recent OR experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Intermediate computer knowledge: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete care assignments in a reasonable amount of time.
• Report to the oncoming shift the care that should be provided and/or needs that have yet to be addressed.
• Accept responsibility for own learning needs. Attend courses and in-services offered. Maintain clinical skills specifically required on unit. Maintain knowledge of current policies.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and team members.
• Serve as a preceptor for new employees, coworkers and students and evaluates their performance by validating clinical and technical skills and interpersonal interactions.
• Communicate with patient family/significant other as patient progresses through continuum of care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
