- Physically install Category 3, Category 5, Enhanced Category 5, Category 6 and Fiber Optic Structured Cable Distribution Systems.
- Installation of outlets, pulling cable, fire stopping and pre-termination including organizing, forming, dressing and labeling cables to industry standards.
- Terminate, assemble and install 8-pin modular connectors and coaxial connectors, light crimp connectors and optical fiber ST and/or SC ceramic connectors.
- Accurately test copper and fiber (multimode and single mode) cables to required certification parameters utilizing appropriate test equipment as required.
- Diagnose and correct copper and optical fiber problems.
- Removal and demolition abandoned cables.
- Maintain and reference industry standards including ANSI, EIA/TIA, and local and National Electric Code.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- BS/BA in related major or equivalent experience.
- 0 4 years in a network and/or server tech support role.
- Must have good time management skills and be able to meet rigid and urgent time schedules.
- Solid communication and organization skills to collaborate with internal staff and customers.
- CCENT, CCNA, MCSA, MCTS certifications a plus.
- Sitting, standing, and walking.
- Lifting of objects up to 100 pounds, bending, and stooping.
- Hours involving overtime and weekends as necessary.
- Keyboarding, typing.
- Ability to read effectively from a computer screen, sampling device and/or a paper copy.
- Ability to work multiple tasks in a stressful environment while maintaining a positive and pleasant manner with others.
- Ability to handle a large volume of work and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced office environment.
- Ability to travel 20%.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
