Oregon Department of Corrections
The Oregon Department of Corrections is looking to increase their staff in their Behavioral Health Services (BHS) unit. This exciting employment opportunity exists within the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem, Oregon. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates and may be used to fill multiple/future vacancies.
ODOC's mission is to promote public safety by holding offenders accountable for their actions and reducing the risk of future criminal behavior. This position is represented by Association of Oregon Corrections Employees (AOCE). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute. Pay listed above is for a full-time employee, salary would range by hours worked.
Duties
The purpose of this position is to provide psycho-social skills development, substance use disorder treatment programming and implement therapeutic interventions identified on individualized treatment plans for clients. Group facilitation of therapeutic, recreational, social and skills training groups and activities will be the primary role of this position. Additionally, this position participates in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans, case management, and transition planning. This position will make decisions regarding the delivery of education classes, individual and skills training activities and social and leisure skills activities and implementation of interventions prescribed. This position will participate in an inter-disciplinary treatment team or a multi-disciplinary team.

Working Conditions
This position is in Salem at the Oregon State Penitentiary. You will work in close contact with adults in custody in the institution setting and may be exposed to hostile situations or incidents. You will perform work inside a 24/7 facility, shifts may vary to include early shifts, late shifts, and weekends. You will have contact with adults in custody during treatment/consultation, at times out of visual range of security staff. You will be exposed to adults in custody that may become physically and/or verbally abusive and requires vigilance and awareness.
Requirements for Employment
You must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following convictions are likely to result in being disqualified for this position: felony convictions, computer theft, identify theft and fraud. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range.
