    Job Description

    As the Supervisor - Purchasing, you will be responsible for the oversight and management of purchasing for branches and buyers. You will work with branch, sales, and region management to identify and execute cost savings opportunities. You will optimize and maintain strong supplier relationships.

    Responsibilities:
    • Monitor and analyze inventory levels & perform inventory stock adjustments as necessary
    • Oversee the daily workflow and schedules of the department
    • Manage end to end purchasing process flow (PO submission, confirmation, shipments, resolution of receiving/pricing discrepancies, close out of aging orders)
    • Maintain and develop business relationships with suppliers/sales team
    • Develop supplier performance metrics, oversee tracking, evaluate results, and work with suppliers to improve performance
    • Leverage WESCO's size and capabilities to maximize margin and supplier performance
    • Manage suppliers to negotiate and resolve performance issues having an impact on costs, customer service or inventory
    • Understand and support LEAN processes for document control, purchasing, process and quality control
    • Maintain vendor contact base
    • Maintain knowledge of trends, prices, and delivery conditions to anticipate future material availability
    • Perform analysis and present recommendations on a wide range of inventory-related reports
    • Ensure compliance with standard policies, procedures, internal audit, Sarbanes-Oxley controls, and quality control processes
    • Assist with recruitment, training and coaching of personnel
    • Place orders with suppliers as necessary
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelors Degree - Business or supply chain related required
    • 3 years required; 5 years preferred of increasing responsibility in purchasing management experience
    • 3 years required; 5 years preferred of distribution and wholesale experience
    • 1-2 years required; 3 years preferred people management experience
    • Strong interpersonal skills to demonstrate teamwork, leadership and flexibility while working with all levels of the organization
    • Common purchasing and inventory concepts, practices, and procedures
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong computer, mathematical and analytical skills
    • Strong time management skills
    • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to ensure timely completion
    • Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and find solutions
    • Ability to explain and teach policies, procedures, and practices
    • Ability to travel up to 25%
