- Assist Chillon Director with developing and standardizing a process for supporting formerly incarcerated students.
- Assist and mentor formerly incarcerated students with navigating University processes such as registering for classes and applying for financial aid.
- Attend weekly meetings with Chillon Director and Program Coordinator.
- Assist formerly incarcerated students with using University services and resources.
- Assist Chillon Director and other CCISE staff in providing support to formerly incarcerated people
- Assist Chillon Director and other CCISE staff with advocacy and education events.
- Assist CCISE research team with conducting research on the impact of higher education in prison.
- Assist Chillon Director and other CCISE staff with creating materials to support formerly incarcerated students in Georgia.
- Must be a currently enrolled Life University Student awarded work study.
- Provide work study award letter at the beginning of each quarter.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding other students.
- Submit hours worked in ADP timely, each week and do sign off on Friday every other week.
- All student positions are working positions. 100% work 0% study.
- Must have experience with higher education in prison and/or reentry.
- Must be familiar with the Chillon Project's mission and share the ethos and values of the program.
- Must demonstrate an attitude of helpfulness.
- Able to perform tasks independently with general supervision.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and follow office procedure.
- Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues.
- Must sign a confidentiality agreement.
- Computer skills; data entry and spreadsheet software capabilities.
- Strong attention to detail; ability to organize work and perform tasks with a high level of accuracy.

Chillon Reentry & Advocacy Leader- Work StudyDescription
Life University seeks a student with experience with higher education in prison or reentry to support the Chillon Project at the Center for Compassion, Integrity and Secular Ethics (CCISE) in developing a pipeline of support for formerly incarcerated students.
This includes directly assisting formerly incarcerated students with navigating University processes, resources, and services.It may also include working with the Chillon Director and CCISE staff on any of the following:
documenting obstacles faced by students transitioning out of prison; designating best points of contact for formerly incarcerated students in University departments; developing a process to introduce formerly incarcerated students to existing resources, services, and student groups at Life U; collaborating with marketing and IT to create web- and print-based resources for formerly incarcerated students; assisting with CCISE research on higher education in prison; collaborating with CCISE to offer Compassionate Integrity Training to directly-impacted people; designing and leading advocacy events related to the criminal legal system.
