Description
The Nurse Practitioner (NP), an advanced practice nurse, offers a proficiency in the art and science of short-term psychotherapy while having the additional advanced physical and psychiatric assessment skills.
Along with the nursing focus on full care provision ranging from mental health promotion to illness prevention, the NP role also involves interventions which encompass psychobiologic diagnosis and treatment.
In addition, emphasis is placed on psych education for these patients and their families to promote mental health and prevent subsequent mental disorders.
