    Featuring one of the largest trail systems in the East, a certified IMBA Ride Center, and host to noteworthy events like Downhill Southeast, WV Enduro Series, and the 2024 UCI Cross Country Marathon World Championships, Snowshoe Bike Park is recognized as one of the best in the U.This position is responsible for the building, repair, and maintenance of Bike Park trails utilizing heavy equipment including but not limited to excavators, skid steers, dozers, etc.

    in accordance with the goals and objectives set forth by the trail crew foreman.
    Snowshoe is the premier destination for Mid-Atlantic and Southeast skiers, snowboarders and summer enthusiasts. Conducts all trail building and maintenance to professional standards with the goals of stability, sustainability, and trail rating appropriateness.

    Ensures professionally designed and finished 'go-arounds' are built at all significant features on blue square and black diamond trails to provide an obvious and low risk alternative path for riders not confident in their ability to ride the feature.

    Manages water drainage on trails by the use of drainage pipe, culverts, ditches and sustainable trail designs which minimize erosion and enhance the sustainability of trails.

    Ensures all trail work areas are finished properly and aesthetically by removing, burying, or neatly stacking all trees and large limbs, seeding and haying all disturbed dirt and the sides and backs of berms, tables, etc.

    Operates a variety of heavy equipment and tools including but not limited to excavators, skid steers, ATVs, chainsaws, nail guns, circular saws, etc.

    Maintains constant awareness of working environment and team member's positions and avoids putting themselves or others in potential danger when operating equipment.

    Conducts regular inspections and maintenance of equipment and tools as set forth by the manufacturer's recommendations in order to optimize the crew's productivity and keep all equipment and tools in good repair

    Constantly monitors all areas of the bike park for potential hazards including but not limited to downed trees, limbs and branches, missing or damaged signage, soil or rock erosion, feature damage or degradation.

    Assists with and ensures the regular inspections and maintenance of equipment and tools is performed by operators set forth by the manufacturer's recommendations in order to optimize the crew's productivity and keep all equipment and tools in good repair.

    Communicates with bike park manager, instructor staff, patrol staff, other trail crews, and MAC staff when closing or opening trails for repair or maintenance

    Ensures all new or redesigned trails, features, and or drops are signed off on by bike park manager and patrol manager prior to opening to the public.

    Maintains communication with bike patrol and makes arrangements for the maintenance and or repair of any trail sections or features reported to be in need of maintenance and or repair.

    Provides and documents ongoing safety discussions with team to maintain a high level of safety awareness.

    Will be required on occasion to assist with other bike park operations or events when called upon to do so.

    2 years of trail building experience. - Must be an expert Downhill Mountain Biker and have the ability to ride all levels of trails in the Bike Park- minimum required
    ~ 2 years previous trail building and maintenance experience, preferably in a bike park environment. -2 years previous heavy equipment, chainsaws and power tools experience. -Basic computer skills. - Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience operating a variety of heavy equipment in a trail building capacity
    ~ Displays rigorous commitment to the environment, financial and safety of self, business, and inherent risks through stewardship.
    Communicates clearly and appropriately - both orally and in writing
    Proficient in use of technology to include Excel, Word, the Internet, desktop publishing and database management software programs. Is able to learn quickly those applications not known.
    Achieves high-quality business outcomes for the division as well as delivering good results that help the business overall
    Meets or exceeds financial goals, budgets, forecasts
    Adapts and is flexible to changing business circumstances across a season, a fiscal year, and/or multiple years; TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

    Any employee or volunteer who operates a company vehicle including cars, trucks, snowcats, snowmobiles, or heavy equipment is required to comply with the Driver's Standards Policy.

    This policy also applies to employees or volunteers driving their personal vehicles for company business more than four times per month, averaging 30+ miles per trip.

    This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
    Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.

    Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, and painting Ultra Violet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude.

    Noise generated by snowmobiles, lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn.
    Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
