About Us: The Green Door Tavern, a Chicago institution located in River North, is seeking an experienced and dynamic bartender to join our team. Known for our historic charm and vibrant atmosphere, The Green Door Tavern has been a destination for locals and tourists alike since 1921. The Green Door Tavern is also home to The Drifter, Chicago's prohibition-era speakeasy specializing in classic craft cocktails and live entertainment.

The ideal candidate has an innate sense of hospitality and passion for guests, food and beverage. Applicants should embrace a food & beverage culture rooted in hard work and knowledge and possess great organizational and prioritization skills. (A minimum of one year of serving/bartending experience is highly preferred). This is a full-time, hourly position plus tips with both dinner and weekend brunch shifts.

Job Requirements & Qualifications: Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Ensure the overall guest experience exceeds expectations and build relationships with guests while encouraging regulars.
• 2 to 3 years experience as a bartender in a high-volume restaurant environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both with guests and team members.
• Serve guests as part of a team by anticipating their needs, initiating conversation, offering assistance and advice.
• Ability to work cohesively with co-workers both front and back of the house.
• Exceptional food, beer, cocktail offerings and service knowledge and the ability to learn new food and menu items.
• Passion to learn and participate in daily food and beverage training.
• Proficiency in the use and operation of all necessary tools and equipment, including POS system, Gift Card and Credit Card terminals.
• Ability to maintain a clean working environment.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
• ServSafe and BASSETT/TIPS Certified.
• Night and weekend availability is required.
• Holiday availability is required

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly $9.48 plus tips

Wednesday & Thursday | 4pm - 2am
Friday | 11:30 am - 2am
Saturday | 11:30 am - 3 am
Sunday | 11:30 am - 9pm

Wednesday - Friday | 5pm - 2 am
Saturday | 5pm - 3am
Sunday - Tuesday | Closed
