    Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities

    The Finance Division of Fairmont State University seeks candidates for the position of Accountant Senior. Candidates should be highly-motivated individuals who can adapt to challenging daily tasks at a complex organization.

    Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant Senior role will perform various tasks with accuracy and autonomy, such as:
    Prepare and analyze financial statements and compliance reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with


    GASB
    accounting principles.
    Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts, including monitoring and resolving discrepancies.
    Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proper recording of financial transactions and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
    Assist in the preparation of analytical and financial reports, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
    Various accounting tasks which may include accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash, fixed assets, restricted accounting, budgeting and external reporting.
    Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Required Education

    Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
    Required Licenses and/or Certifications
    N/A
    Minimum Required Qualifications
    Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record keeping.
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
    Preferred Qualifications

    Two or more years experience in an Accounting role is preferred
    Proficiency in financial software and


    ERP
    systems.
    Experience in Governmental/Higher Education accounting is a plus.
