    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Responsible for providing and managing pharmacy services in accordance with the requirements set forth by the federal, state and local laws and the polices of San Jose Clinic in the absence of the Pharmacist-in-Charge.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Dispense and handle prescriptions in compliance with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).
    2. Comply with TSBP requirements for drug utilization review, Patient Medication Education Program, and patient-pharmacist drug counseling.
    3. Review Pharmacy Policy and Procedure Manual and review/update changes to the Pharmacy Technician Manual as deemed appropriate and in consultation with the PIC.
    4. Keep and maintain a current license as required by TSBP and properly display.
    5. Process ordering of drugs/supplies as directed and deemed necessary for pharmacy operations using prescription processing software.
    6. Ensure all pharmaceutical products are stored based on manufacturer recommendations and in compliance with laws where applicable.
    7. Ensure all outdated pharmaceutical products are immediately removed from pharmacy shelves and prohibited from dispensing.
    8. Communicate and submit formulary requests in consultation with prescribing providers. Formulary to include purchased drugs, drug samples in-stock, donated drugs and pharmaceutical assistance program drugs.
    9. Utilize and Integrate RX Assist program and sample inventory within workflow and in order to prioritize in-kind donations over purchased medicines.
    10. Resolve problems in Pharmacy and ensures compliance with regulations, standards, and quality patient care and customer service.
    11. Supervise pharmacy technicians in the absence of PIC.
    12. Deliver pharmacy care in accordance with the Catholic Moral and Ethical Directives.
    13. Follow all HIPAA and OSHA guidelines and regulations, including assisting HIPAA and OSHA Officers in ensuring compliance.
    14. Maintain confidentiality of patient information/records at all times.
    15. Maintain established San José Clinic policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.
    16. Implement job responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the San José Clinic Mission and Code of Conduct and is supportive of San José Clinic cultural diversity objectives.
    17. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Part-Time: 24 hours a week

    Requirements:

    QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    1. Must have a B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm D from an accredited School of Pharmacy or foreign equivalency and a current Texas License.
    2. Must have a minimum of two years' experience as a staff pharmacist, preferably in a Class A setting.
    3. Can demonstrate excellent organizational skills, multi-tasking and effective use of time. Also able to handle and complete multiple tasks or projects with multiple deadlines.
    4. Ability to deal professionally, courteously and efficiently with public and all levels of the organization.
    5. Ability to operate computer, copier fax, and 10-key machine.
    6. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, practice management system software applications, and EMR.
    7. Can demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
    8. Can demonstrate effective customer relation skills, working with diverse populations, often in stressful fast paced environments.
    9. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

    1. Ability to sit, stand, bend and stoop for (long) periods of time.
    2. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally/ frequently.
    3. Ability to respond to emergency/crisis situations.
    4. Exposure to noise.
    5. Exposure to blood and/or fluids.
