    GENERAL SUMMARY/


    OVERVIEW STATEMENT:


    The Child Psychiatry Division is comprised of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry outpatient clinic and several clinical and research programs.

    The Resource Specialist will work closely with mental health clinicians in programs

    focused on preventive and trauma-informed mental health interventions for children and parents, including Integrated Primary Care Program (IPC) and family-centered group therapies

    . The Resource Specialist will support families to help them navigate the mental health landscape in Massachusetts and secure treatments as recommended by clinicians.


    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    The Resource Specialist is responsible for assisting with the following for patients and families including but not limited to:

    ·

    Place referrals for services both within and outside of MGH including:

    outpatient psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, specialty care, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient programs, and/or other mental health treatment programming.

    ·

    Complete phone screening and scheduling.

    ·

    Facilitate transfer of care to mental health programs as needed.

    ·

    Maintain an updated database of patient resources

    ·

    Obtain necessary consents and ROIs

    ·

    Process paperwork and compose letters as requested

    SKILLS/ABILITIES/


    COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
    ·

    Excellent interpersonal skills – collaboration, customer service and advocacy skills.

    Comfort working with families who are managing mental health concerns

    ·

    Ability to work independently – Prioritizes work assignments as necessary with little or no supervision

    ·

    Flexibility and resourcefulness

    ·

    Experience working with insurance networks desirable

    ·

    Familiarity with mental health treatments, systems of care, and community resources a plus
