Job Overview:

Oversees unit activities, ensures quality, service, and efficiency standards are met. Manages daily shift operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day to day clinical operations such as practice standards, staffing, budgets, and quality improvement. Ensure top-notch care in compliance with regulations and departmental policies.
• Develop and execute plans to enhance staff development. Supervise a single unit of employees.
• Monitor staff allocation based on patient needs, ensuring top-level patient care and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Supervise daily operations including HR management, safety programs, and risk management.
• Ensure high service quality and utilization standards, taking specific responsibility for patient care. Coordinate treatment plans, customer-focused care, and cost-effective service use.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers outside the unit to optimize patient care. Implement best practices from other units and address patient/family concerns.
• Kaiser Permanente regularly reviews compensation for roles and may adjust job descriptions or payment status.

Basic Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
• Minimum 2 years of leadership experience such as charge nurse or quality improvement champion.
• Graduate of accredited nursing school. High school diploma or equivalent required.

Licenses and Certifications:

• California RN License required.
• Basic Life Support certification.

Additional Qualifications:

• Completed training as preceptor or charge nurse.
• Proficiency in quality improvement, staffing, budgeting, and clinical care processes.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and nursing standards.
• Excellent communication skills.
• ACLS, PALS, NRP certification may be necessary for certain roles.
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ACLS certification strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
