    Description

    Main Responsibilities:
    • Verification of patient insurance information.
    • Obtain clinical documentation for referred patients and attach to patient record in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
    • HOC Access calendar maintenance and management (ex. track nurse availability, confirm hospital patient transfer times, etc.).
    • Review, scan, and forward mail for Chesapeake Supportive Care.
    • Add/update Physician information in EMR.
    • Update, review, manage, and distribute Pre-Admit list to Intake Department on a twice weekly basis.
    • Input and manage electronic consent forms through SmartMD system.
    • Monitor and distribute electronic faxes.
    • Communicate and coordinate with hospitals on patient transportation.
    • Order Durable Medical Equipment for patients prior to Admission during high referral volume times or staff shortages.
    • Support of referral entry into EMR for Chesapeake Supportive Care.
    • Data entry and maintenance in EMR.
    • Timely completion and associated documentation of Attending Physician Verification (APV) and Certification of Terminal Illness (CTI) verification.
    • Intake Department phone coverage during high volume call times or staff shortages.
    • Assist with Reception desk coverage, as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Minimum 3 years experience working in a fast-paced office environment
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as a member of a team.
    • Ability to multi-task in a busy atmosphere.
    • Basic computer skills, to include (but not limited to) Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office tools - particularly Excel
    • Proficient in data entry
    • Attention to detail
    • Effective communication and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Customer service experience or experience in a customer-facing role
    • Healthcare experience
    • Experience entering and maintaining data in an EMR system
    REQUIREMENTS

    Current Maryland driver's license and clean driving record. Reliable transportation a must as position requires occasional travel between counties/facilities.

    Compliant with health screening and vaccination requirements of organization and position, including Influenza vaccination annually.
