- Pass the Praxis Test for Para-Professionals or agree to take the test and achieve a passing score
- Complete 48 hours of successful college coursework - provide college transcript as documentation
- Hold an Associate's Degree or higher - provide college transcript as documentation
- Assist students in finding reference and instructional materials to enhance the use of media center resources.
- Support students in reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
- Manage circulation desk operations and files.
- Engage in individual and small group student support to reinforce foundational learning.
- Operate audiovisual equipment as necessary.
- Assist in cataloging and filing learning materials.
- Create, duplicate, distribute, and utilize educational materials.
- Assist in using and maintaining instructional and non-instructional equipment, including personal computers if needed.
- Operate standard office equipment like personal computers and copiers.
- Report work verbally or in writing to supervisors as needed.
- Demonstrate effective writing and communication skills.
- Follow written or verbal instructions accurately.
- Perform basic arithmetic operations and problem-solving tasks.
- Interact effectively with diverse individuals.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and employee information.
- Adhere to teacher or supervisor directives while assisting students in various tasks.
- Cultivate positive relationships with students, staff, and others encountered during work.
- Educational background and experience must equip candidates with necessary skills and knowledge. Typical qualifications include:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
