    The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art is looking to hire an initiative-taking and organized Marketing and Special Events Coordinator to help increase brand awareness, engagement, and attendance that elevates and distinguishes the Museum.

    The ideal candidate will have prior experience with a wide range of marketing and event functions, including communications, branding, digital marketing, and project and event management.

    The Marketing and Special Events Coordinator must be an organized multitasker able to manage many diverse projects at once and meet tight deadlines.

    HOURS/SCHEDULE

    Monday – Friday; some evenings and weekends required. Must be able to work at all events including the Boardwalk Art Show (October 4-6,


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Work with Eventbrite and compile visitor data reports.
    Work in conjunction with multiple departments to ensure consistent delivery of the Museum's marketing strategies and campaigns.

    Assist with the creation, development, and distribution of the Museum's communications and projects, including advertising, press releases, member and donor mailings, invitations, and exhibition collateral and signage.

    Work together with the graphic designer, copy editor, photographers, printer, and other vendors to organize and facilitate production, printing, and postage of museum collaterals.

    Create and manage digital communication projects with tools such as Paperless Post, etc.
    Manage museum-wide project management system coordinating across multiple departments, updating key deadlines, and ensuring deliverables.
    Assist with departmental budget and expense tracker.
    Aggregate insights from different data sets to help make data driven decisions.

    Work closely with the Director of Marketing and Special Events to assist with all aspects of museum events including exhibition related events and programming, the Boardwalk Art Show, and donor/cultivation events.

    Event management including but not limited to staff scheduling, event layout/setup, vendor management, branding, AV services, catering, beverages, floral, etc.

    Assist with executing on and off-site events including but not limited to event team coordination, event set-up, day of hosting, managing logistics throughout the event, and event tear down.

    Work with the development team to ensure all event sponsors are receiving all promised marketing and event benefits and recognition before, during and after the event.

    Purchase and inventory of all event supplies needed throughout the year.


    BOARDWALK ART SHOW
    Responsible for Volunteer Management system, volunteer scheduling and volunteer communication.
    Liaise with the Education Department to make sure they have the necessary supplies and support (volunteers) for Family Park
    Assist The Director of Marketing with the City Application as well as any city meetings pertaining to BWAS.
    Work with Artist Liaison to ensure all tasks relating to the Artists are handled.
    Partner with the Development department to ensure Sponsor obligations for BWAS are fulfilled.
    Facilitate the management and ordering of BWAS merchandise.
    Contact schools re BWAS participation. (NSU/ODU/TCC/VWU and any other schools needing booths.)


    SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    Bachelor's degree (Marketing, Public Relations, Business Management, Communications preferred) or 3 years of related marketing or event planning experience.
    Knowledge of traditional and digital marketing, content marketing, and social media marketing
    Ability to cover occasional weekend days for Visitor Services
    Experience organizing small and large-scale events.
    Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
    Excels in customer service, organizational and time management, and event planning.
    Ability to work both virtually and in-office.
    Ability to work long hours as needed with prolonged standing.
    Ability to lift 10–20 pounds or greater.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required; PowerPoint design experience, paperless Post, Eventbrite, Canva preferred.


    COMPENSATION
    $42,000
