    Microsoft Purview Information Protection ) Team builds security capabilities to help the customer discover, classify, and protect sensitive information where it lives or as it travels across different platforms, such as desktop, mobile, and web. This includes Classification, Labeling, and Protection (CLP), security policies, document encryption, Information Right Management (IRM), and Data Loss Prevention.

    Within Microsoft Purview Information Protection Team, we are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to develop enterprise-grade features impacting millions of customers around the world who rely on us to protect their information and keep their data secure across platforms.

    Responsibilities

    • Work with other experienced Software Engineers, Product Managers, Designers and cross-functional teams to deliver high quality solutions.
    • Design and develop large sharable components with quality, performance, simplicity, durability, scalability, and maintainability.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across design verification and architecture.
    • Leading the technical development of software modeling.
    • Mentoring other engineers, contribute to code reviews, and participate in full software development lifecycle.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6 years technical engineering experience coding in C#, Java, JavaScript or C.
    • OR equivalent experience.
    • Proficient with data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
    • Experience with DevOps tools and practices, such as Git, CI/CD, testing, and monitoring.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10 years technical engineering experience coding in C#, Java, JavaScript or C.
    • OR equivalent experience.
    Software Engineering IC- The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year.

    There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
