    Summary This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D2240P01 and is part of the Oregon National Guard 173rd Fighter Wing, National Guard.

    Responsibilities As a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG , this position works within an Air National Guard Aviation Wing, Maintenance Group, Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Avionics Element, Avionics Shop, Communications/Navigation/ECM, or Guidance and Control shop.

    It is an Air National dual status technician position that requires military membership, compatible military skill assignment and classification.

    The primary purpose of this position is to install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions.

    The worker in this career field must demonstrate the ability to perform on- or off-equipment maintenance on one or more complete electronic integrated systems associated with the assigned aircraft and/or maintenance on automatic flight control systems, instrument systems, inertial and radar navigation systems.

    1. Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on one or more multi-complex electronic integrated systems.

    Completes operational checks, inspections, tests, trouble shooting, removal and replacement of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) which are linked with integrated systems and LRUs which are independent or associated with nonintegrated systems.

    Isolates unusual malfunctions using technical orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, tools, and test equipment including automatic test equipment and Flight Line Test Systems (FLTS).

    Solves complex problems by analyzing installation, circuitry, and operating characteristics of the systems.

    Adjusts and aligns system sensors, transmitters, amplifiers, power supplies, display devices, controls, transponders, actuators, servos, computers and other related components.

    Installs serviceable components into aircraft and performs total systems alignment and harmonization in accordance with existing technical orders and directives.

    Reviews and analyzes maintenance data; determines if criteria are sufficient to provide adequate test, troubleshooting and repair procedures; devises and recommends tests, procedural changes, or data corrections.

    Aligns, adjusts, and performs final calibrations on integrated systems to determine successful repairs. Analyzes equipment failure and malfunctions and suggests changes to improve operation.

    Monitors the operation of complex, interrelated systems, analyzes operating trends, proposes preventative maintenance down time to assure continued operating capability, and recommends components for overhaul or engineering evaluation for disposal.

    Troubleshoots operational malfunctions and analyzes system performance utilizing aircrew debrief data, Technical Orders, schematic and wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, data analysis, common and system-specific test equipment and built in system tests.

    Performs on and off-equipment maintenance on systems such as automatic flight control, instruments, communication, navigation, and inertial navigation. (20%) 4.

    Recommends methods to improve equipment performance, technical data, and maintenance procedures by reporting hardware and software malfunctions, initiates material deficiency reports both on equipment and in technical data, and assists in design changes as necessary.

    Conducts aircrew debriefing to determine the nature of system malfunctions. Documents all discrepancies and maintenance actions performed by inputting information into the electronic records information systems (i.

    This hazardous task may involve the inspection, storage and handling of explosive devices; to include flares, chaff, impulse cartridges and similar items.

    Conducts on-the-job training on assigned systems and related support equipment and tasks to include classroom instruction as necessary. Provides training to lower graded personnel concerned with the repair of integrated avionics systems. Provides training to newly assigned personnel regardless of grade level. (10%) 6.

    May be required to perform additional duties such as structural fire-fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, serve as a security guard, remove snow, load and handle munitions, launch/recover and service aircraft, operate heavy equipment, maintain facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.

    GENERAL and SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
    General Experience
    • An applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade.
    Specialized Experience
    • Experience that prepares the applicant to perform the duties of the position.
    The applicant's educational-degree study program or specific academic courses may substitute for some specialized experience.

    An applicant must demonstrate the identified specialized experience competencies (skills, knowledge, abilities and behaviors) to qualify for a FWS 2610 position as identified by its applicable grade.

    To qualify an applicant for one of the FWS Series 2610 ANG Dual Status Technician positions, apply and evaluate the applicant's competencies, military and civilian experiences, completed education, learned skills, obtained knowledge, endorsed abilities, and training program accomplishments.

    The following seven basic qualification factors are applicable to the FWS ANG Dual Status Technician positions:

    Skilled in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately Ability to communicate clearly and effectively Skilled in duties such as, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes Ability to format and write English in reports and presentation formats Skilled in presenting formal training presentations and briefings Skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting material Skilled in training, mentoring, leading, and problem-solving The applicant must have at least 12 months of specialized experiences working as an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic, WG , and must possess the craftsman level of knowledge and skills to install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions.

    Experiences included the ability and skills to perform on-or off-equipment maintenance on one or more complete electronic integrated systems associated with the assigned aircraft and/or maintenance on systems such as, automatic flight control systems, instrument systems, inertial and radar navigation systems.

    Experienced in performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on one or more multicomplex electronic integrated systems.

    Must have skilled capabilities of isolating unusual malfunctions using technical orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, tools, and test equipment including automatic test equipment and flight line test systems.

    Skilled in solving complex problems by analyzing installation, circuitry, and operating characteristics of the systems.

    Experiences involved adjusting and aligning system sensors, transmitters, amplifiers, power supplies, display devices, controls, transponders, actuators, servos, computers and other related components.

    Skilled in the installation of serviceable components into aircraft and performed total systems alignment and harmonization in accordance with existing technical orders and directives.

    To initially qualify and prior to appointment, an applicant's military medical record must indicate a completed and current medical physical, medical profile, a cleared drug test; and, normal color vision as defined in AFI 48-123, Medical Examinations and Standards.

    To initially qualify and as a condition of continued dual status technician employment, must have the capability to lift, carry, push, or otherwise handle items weighing up to 70 pounds.

    To initially qualify and as a condition of continued dual status technician employment, must have the physical capability to stand, climb, walk, bend, crouch, reach, and stoop over extended periods of time.

    To initially qualify and as a condition of continued dual status technician employment, must possess a valid state driver's license to operate government motor vehicles, for the state in which he or she lives or is principally employed, in accordance with Air Force and Air National Guard Vehicle Operations Directives.

    As a condition of continued dual status technician employment, the employee must complete the hazmat certification within six months of employment and complete hazmet recertification every two years.

    As a condition of continued dual status technician employment, the employee must maintain the position's mandatory AFSC skill level and continue on-the-job proficiency requirements.

    As a condition of continued dual status technician employment, the employee must maintain local network access IAW AFMANs 33-152, User Responsibilities and Guidance for Information Systems and 33-282, Computer Security.

    As a condition of continued dual status technician employment, the employee requires routine access to classified Secret material or similar environment.

    For award and retention of a compatible AFSC, the employee must have a current National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit (NACLC) according to AFI 31-501, Personnel Security Program Management.

    The employee's clearance reinvestigations are opened prior to the expiration of his or her current investigations.

    Education To qualify an enlisted applicant for hire consideration into an ANG Dual Status Technician FWS 2610 position, award of the compatible Air Force Specialty Code, Craftsman Seven Skill Level; Journeyman Five Skill Level; or, the Apprentice Three Skill Level, with the position's compatible unit position assignment and a high school diploma, are mandatory requirements.

    Completion of high school courses in physics, algebra, trigonometry, and computer principles is desirable.

    Higher academic college courses and degrees that are aligned within the FWS Series 2610 type of work tasks are also desirable.

    For the WL-13, WL-12, WG-14, and WG-13 ANG Dual Status Technician positions, the mandatory military education requirements are the completion of an Air Force Seven Skill Level Technical Training School and awarded a compatible Seven Skill Level AFSC, along with the successful completion of at least one military professional education course program.
