    Are you a leader with a desire to support students, youth and adults with disabilities by providing vocational rehabilitation services that assist them in obtaining and maintaining employment?

    Join the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) and our hard-working team of professionals as a Regional Training Specialist. This role can be located anywhere in the state of Washington.


    This position develops and delivers training to instruct VR Supervisors, VR Counselors, and Rehabilitation Technicians on policies, procedures, best practices, and related topics that are required for the delivery of DVR services.


    This position participates as a member of a division-wide training team that consists of the DVR Training Manager and other Regional VR Training Specialist.


    Some of what you will do:

    • Composes and updates training curricula and lesson plans on a wide variety of policies, procedures, best practices, and related topics that are required for the delivery of DVR services, based on federal VR regulations
    • Conduct training courses, presentations, and workshops in-person, online, and via webinar to instruct and develop the knowledge and skills of VR Supervisors, VR Counselors, and Rehabilitation Technicians within the region and across the state.
    • Actively participates and collaborates as a member of the DVR Staff Training Team
    • Participates in the identification of staff training needs, plus ongoing assessment/evaluation of training courses, presentations, and workshops
    • Assists supervisors in developing and implementing training plans

    Professionals with the following should apply:
    Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Counseling, or a field related to Vocation Rehabilitation


    • Related degrees: Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology, School Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Marriage Family & Child Counseling, Counseling (regardless of emphasis), Special Education, Counseling and Guidance, Mental Health Counseling, Community Counseling, School Counseling, Vocational Evaluation
    OR

    A current certification as a Rehabilitation Counselor by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC)

    OR

    A Master's degree with at least 18 quarter and 12 semester credit hours specified as follows:


    • ONE graduate course with a primary focus on the Theories and Techniques of Counseling, AND
    • THREE graduate courses, each with a primary focus on one of the following areas, AND
    • Occupational information, Job Development and Placement, Medical Aspects of Disabilities, Foundations of Rehabilitation, Psychological Aspects of Disabilities, Personal and Vocational Adjustment
    • TWO graduate courses, each with a primary focus on one of the following areas:
    • Assessment, Research Methodology, Vocational and Career Development, Community Resources, Case Management, Delivery of Rehabilitation Services

    PLUS


    Four years of paid experience* as a vocational rehabilitation counselor or similar paid experience in vocational counseling, job placement, vocational assessment, or other areas of rehabilitation counseling.


    • This experience may be gained either before or after obtaining the qualifying education or CRCC certification.
    • One year of the paid experience may be substituted with unpaid experience consisting of:
    • Direct work with people with disabilities in a setting such as an independent living center; or
    • Direct service or advocacy activities that provide people with experience and skills in working with people with disabilities; or
    • Direct experience as an employer, as a small business owner or operator, or in self-employment, or other experience in human resources, recruitment, or experience in supervising employees, training, or other activities that provide experience in integrated employment environments
