    As an Embryologist at Hanabusa IVF, you will have the opportunity to perform high quality embryology lab work. This includes intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), embryo biopsy and tubing, oocyte retrievals, embryo transfers, vitrification and warming of oocytes and embryos, fertilization checks, and more, along with performing quality control checks amongst colleagues and maintaining all necessary paperwork and documentation.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

    Within the first 45 days and ongoing:

    · Learns Hanabusa IVF values, services, processes, procedures, and medical terminology.

    · Meets and builds rapport with the Lab Supervisor, Lab Director, Embryology team members, and clinical and administrative staff by asking questions & being eager to offer assistance.

    · Reads and signs off on all laboratory related manuals and begins training of basic embryology skills such as manipulation of specimens, culture dish preparation and oocyte retrievals.

    · Within 1-2 weeks, is participating in lab procedures daily with some supervision including culture dish preparation, fertilization checks, embryo grading, oocyte/embryo vitrification and warming, etc. Asks questions when needed and is confident in their ability to perform these tasks.

    · Reviews the process of embryo culturing as unique to Hanabusa IVF with fellow embryologists, asking questions to ensure understanding of procedure.

    3 months and ongoing:

    · Is autonomous in the role, completing embryology procedures including oocyte retrieval, sperm processing, conventional insemination, Intracytoplasmic sperm injection, biopsy, stopping to ask questions when coming across something new or unknown.

    · Completes quality control process each morning for lab instruments each morning.

    · Is meeting performance thresholds based on the tracked and measured statistics in the cycle logbook, including fertilization rate, number of no result reads when doing biopsies, etc.

    · Attends 90-day check in with the Lab Supervisor, and shares feedback on the onboarding and training process, and discusses any questions/concerns.

    6 months and ongoing:

    · Completes 6-month competency evaluation for each step in the lab, observed by the Lab Director, including paperwork, and documentation in the cycle logbook and EMR ensuring everything is accurate and meeting Hanabusa IVF standards.

    · Works with the IVF lab administrative assistant to coordinate and to order more supplies and ship specimens for chromosomal testing to the lab that completes the testing of samples.

    · Has a learning mindset and seeks to always be independently researching embryologist procedures. Collaborates with the team on a topic for publication.

    12 months and ongoing:

    · Has an in-depth understanding with Hanabusa IVF procedures and offerings, and is consistently maintaining strong KPIs, with no shift in culture outcomes or insemination outcomes depending on the individual's contributions.

    · Completes annual competency evaluation and participates in biannual Proficiency testing.

    · Is flexible to process and technology changes in the lab, encouraging and suggesting changes when needed or when the opportunity arises.

    · Is eager to continue education in embryology, attending conferences, seminars, and webinars and is bringing back new and interesting innovations to consider implementing at the company.

    · Completes 12-month performance review, identifies personal learning and development opportunities related to their interests and background.

    EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

    · 2+ years proven experience as an embryologist required

    · Bachelor's degree in biology, medical laboratory science or related field required

    · Master's degree in embryology preferred

    · American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB) Certification a plus

    · Publications of Embryology Research with desire to continue publishing a plus

    · Proven experience and understanding of EMR software required

    · Intermediate to advanced working skills with various office equipment, computers and various programs including MS Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook for email required

    · Demonstrated ability to stand or sit for 8+ hours daily required

    · Proven ability to work cohesively as a team and assist co-workers

    · Strong communication skills; both written and verbal required

    · Proven ability to be dependable and responsible with a great "get things done" attitude required

    **Please note this position is a full-time in-office position, no remote work option. This role is also required to work occasional weekends and holidays, on rotation with the Embryologist team (with overtime pay eligibility) and assigned overnight call phone duties.
