    Job Description

    This position supports the work of the West Morris Area YMCA, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

    The Swim Instructor at the West Morris Area YMCA maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swim classes.

    Qualifications

    ·Exceptional organizational and leadership skills preferred
    ·Age 15
    ·Possesses the desire and demeanor to work well with children

    Essential Functions

    1.With the assistance of other aquatics staff leads and assists in the instruction of swimming lessons thar are in accordance with YMCA guidelines.

    2.Prepares lesson plans and supports members and program participants in achieving their goals.

    3.Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers, members or program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization; helps participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA; and encourages parent or caregiver involvement.

    4.Conveys information on aquatics safety, maintenance, programs and schedules and as appropriate to the Associate Director - Aquatics

    5.Refers program participants and families to other programs.

    6.Maintains records as required (e.g., attendance, progress reports).

    7.Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.

    8.Participates in special events to promote programs and fundraising activities.
