    Position Summary

    Plug Power is the industry leader providing hydrogen-powered fuel cell systems for material handling equipment, backup power and on-road vehicles.

    The Senior Systems Engineer for E-mobility is responsible for providing technical controls and systems engineering support for electric mobility applications.

    The Transportation Systems team is responsible for the architecture and software controls of fuel cell systems for the transportation market.

    The ideal candidate should exhibit exceptional communication and project management skills along with a strong background in systems engineering. This individual must be self-motivated, able to handle multiple project assignments and is willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced engineering organization

    Core Duties and Responsibilities

    • Research and Develop system requirements for the on road electric mobility applications.
    • Develop system concepts and controls strategy for programs associated with product development, cost reductions and reliability improvements
    • Perform controls software verification and data analysis of fuel cells systems for hybrid powertrain.
    • Create system and subsystem specification documentation to meet transportation application requirements
    • Design and improve control algorithms and state machines to maximize fuel cell stack life and performance.
    • Capable to develop and verify design targets for the automotive fuel cells systems.
    • Develop architectures for fuel cell systems to the applicable codes and standards for the transportation market
    • Interface with customers and other organizations to acquire and document requirements
    • Develop and execute system level design, testing and data analysis to meet various global automotive standards
    • Lead FMEA, functional safety analysis and hazard analysis for fuel cell systems.
    • Work professionally and cooperatively in a cross-functional team environment with a focus upon maximizing system performance and customer satisfaction
    • Represent Plug Power in a professional manner in all interactions; support the philosophy of the organization to provide high-performing technology to maximize customer satisfaction
    • Perform all other duties as assigned

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelors degree in mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or systems engineering.
    • Eight (8) years of related work experience in the fuel cell, automotive or mobility hybrid power train field
    • Strong fundamental knowledge of PEM fuel cells or hybrid power train is preferred.
    • Demonstrated aptitude for systems thinking and creative problem solving
    • Knowledge of vehicle testing and performance characterization for North American and European market
    • Effective communication abilities; strength in communicating complex concepts in an understandable form
    • Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: MATLAB, GT suite, Lab View, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Experience setting up various data acquisition tools is preferred.
    • Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders
    • Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail
    • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively
    • Ability to role model high standards of professionalism
    • Teamwork oriented and focused
