    GEICO is seeking a dynamic and visionary individual to join our Exchange Hub Engineering team. The Exchange Hub team is dedicated to facilitating seamless and secure communication and collaboration across all internal and external third parties by collecting, managing and optimizing the exchange of data.

    An ideal candidate is intellectually curious, has a solution-oriented mindset, and enjoys learning new tools and techniques. You will have the opportunity to design and deliver the centralized and secure data exchange platform, related SDK, and related tools to collect, manage, and analyze user data from various sources for personalized and data-driven Insurance products and services. You would utilize Metering, Telemetry & Streaming Technologies to enhance risk assessment and customer engagement through real-time data collection, data store and data analysis.

    Position Description

    Our Senior Engineer is a key member of the engineering staff working across the organization to provide a friction-less experience to our customers and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. Our team thrives and succeeds in delivering high quality technology products and services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs through back-end systems and all points in between.

    Position Responsibilities

    As a Senior Engineer, you will:

  • Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems
  • Build product definition and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solution
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle
  • Lead in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization
  • Define, create, and support reusable application components/patterns from a business and technology perspective
  • Build world class reporting platform to satisfy reporting needs
  • Utilize programming languages like .NET, Python, SQL, and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of Azure tools and services
  • Mentor other engineers
  • Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams
  • Qualifications

  • Advanced programming experience and big data experience within Python, Containerization (Docker and Kubernetes), GIT and GIT lifestyle, Databricks, Hive, Kafka, Spark, PowerBI
  • Experience with Load test tooling (Gatling), CI/CD tootling (Jenkins, Gradle, Artifactory)
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Thousand Eyes, Influx, Grafana or equivalents
  • Proven understanding of microservices oriented architecture and REST APIs and GraphQL
  • Experience architecting and designing new and current systems
  • Advanced understanding of DevOps concepts including Azure DevOps framework and tools
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting skills
  • Advanced understanding of monitoring concepts and tooling
  • Advanced understanding of security protocols and products
  • Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code
  • In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms
  • Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment

  • 4+ years of professional experience in data software development, programming languages and developing with big data technologies
  • 3+ years of experience with architecture and design
  • 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
  • 2+ years of experience in Big-data tools like Spark and Databricks
  • Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
  • Annual Salary

    $76, $185,000.00

    The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
