    Job Summary


    This part-time Research Technician will assist with all aspects of the research projects including molecular biology, biochemistry, cardiovascular physiology, electrophysiology studies, imaging, histopathology, vascular biology and cellular analysis.

    She/He needs to be instrumental in performing experiments and experience in scientific data collection, analysis and interpretation. She/He will work directly with Dr. Cevher Ozcan to complete the project.

    Responsibilities


    • The Research Technician will provide technical support activities related to scientific research projects.
    • Ensures compliance of research activities with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates.
    • His/her responsibilities include, but not limited to following: 1) Provides technical and administrative support for a research project.
    • Installs, sets up and performs experiments.
    • Working with mice, including behavioral monitoring, recovery of tissues, and histological processing.
    • Genetic screening of transgenic mouse lines, using PCR protocols and keeping colony.
    • Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens.
    • Analyzes possible solutions and tissue using standard laboratory procedures.
    • Conducts literature reviews and assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts, presentations and other documents.
    • Interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.
    • Assisting with developing or amending study protocols, data collection tools and databases.
    • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
    • Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens.
    Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.


    • Performs other related work as needed.
    Minimum Qualifications


    Education:
    Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

    * Work

    Experience:
    Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

    Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or related field.

    Experience:

    • Experience with basic science research.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated research experience.
    • Experience with cardiovascular research, cellular electrophysiology, and animal models of diseases is highly desired.
