    About the LocationHybrid Position:
    This position may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmarts FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity.

    Associates with a Hybrid work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can be required to come onsite between 1-5 days a week as determined by leadership and based on business needs.

    About the JobSenior Data EngineerWe are seeking a highly motivated Senior data platform engineer to join our team.

    In this role, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing our data platform infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with a focus on Databricks, bigdata and machine learning integration.

    You will be responsible for ensuring a highly scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud data platform that supports our data analytics needs.


    Responsibilities:


    Design, deploy, and manage secure and scalable cloud solutions on GCP, including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, GCP cloud managed services, and Kubernetes Engine.

    Configure and manage Databricks clusters, ensuring optimal performance and resource utilization.
    Develop and implement automation scripts to streamline cloud infrastructure management tasks.
    Collaborate with data engineers and scientists to understand their data processing requirements and translate them into effective cloud solutions.
    Monitor and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues, proactively identifying and resolving potential problems.
    Implement and maintain best practices for security, compliance, and cost optimization within the cloud environment.

    (Knowledge of Snowflake as a data warehouse is a plus)Stay up to date on the latest advancements in GCP, bigdata and Databricks technologies.

    Document cloud infrastructure configurations and procedures for knowledge sharing.


    Technical Skills:


    Proven experience working with major cloud providers like AWS, GCP & Azure including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, AI/ML offerings, orchestration, and Kubernetes Engine.

    Proficiency in scripting languages like Python and BashIn-depth knowledge of Databricks, including cluster configuration, workload management, and security best practices.

    Hands on experience working in Apache spark building data engineering pipelines for batch and Realtime data processing.
    Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
    Experience with cloud monitoring and logging tools.
    Working knowledge of data warehousing concepts (Snowflake knowledge a plus).Experience with CI/CD pipelines for cloud deployments.


    Interpersonal Skills:


    Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across different teams (engineering, data science, product).Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.

    Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
    Passion for learning and staying up to date on the latest cloud technologies.
