    Description

    EXCO Resources, Inc. is a private independent oil and natural gas company engaged in the exploration, exploitation, acquisition, development and production of onshore U.S. oil and natural gas properties with a focus on shale resource plays. Our principal operations are conducted in certain key U.S. oil and natural gas areas including Texas, Louisiana and the Appalachia region. Our headquarters are in Dallas, TX.

    We are currently looking for a Production Engineer:

    Primary Objective:

    Analyzes production data and makes recommendations for field enhancement projects. Evaluates well performance and identifies workover candidates, selects and applies standard or well-defined engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.

    Major Functions and Scope:

    · Applies knowledge of principles, practices and procedures to gas and oil wells with the goal of improving production economically and safely in compliance with company EHS regulations.

    · Monitors and optimizes chemical program to mitigate scale precipitation and corrosion/erosion of the wellbore and surface equipment.

    · Prepares information for area well reviews with field personnel to review well status, activity results while identifying any future action items.

    · Monitors well/lease production. Identifies, diagnoses and recommends solutions to issues affecting well performance.

    · Identifies workover candidates, run economic analyses and prepares AFE justifications and workover procedures.

    · Routinely performs LOE analysis and provides recommendations for improvement.

    · Implements and prescribes processes to protect gas and oil wells against hazards such as offset fracs.

    · Participates in monitoring and reporting flowback results and activities of new wells in area of responsibility.

    · Works closely with field personnel with occasional trips to the field to review projects or monitor well activities.

    · Participates in special projects as assigned by management to optimize production processes and production equipment by increasing efficiencies and production levels and decreasing operating expenses. Reviews and evaluates new products working with vendors, consultants and production department.

    · Recommends improved work alternatives, business processes and new technology applications.

    · Exercises sound judgment in planning, organizing and conducting work assignments.

    · Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.

    · Performs other related duties and/or special projects as required.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Knowledge:

    Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering from an accredited university. Working knowledge of Aries, Spotfire, Nodal Analysis, Peloton/Wellview, Microsoft Office suite, preferred.

    Experience:

    5-8 years of production engineering experience including experience with unconventional assets, well workovers and completions activities. Haynesville and/or Marcellus experience preferred.

    Competencies:

    Preferred experience working with unconventional assets, i.e., tight gas sands, shales and CBM. Demonstrated skills in the use of production engineering techniques and practices of the field. Developed knowledge of engineering theories and principles. Able to prioritize multiple projects. High degree of initiative and independent judgment. Strong analytical and problem solving abilities. Strong work ethic. Ability to work with reservoir engineering, field personnel and vendors as well as other disciplines. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Attention to detail; ability to perform duties with a high level of accuracy. Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines. Strong personal computer skills. Strong oral and written communication skills.
