    Job Description SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and organized individual to join our dynamic team as an Aviation Parts and Logistics Specialist.

    This position provides essential inventory and parts management in support of theNational Science Foundation (NSF), National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Earth Observing Laboratory (EOL) Research Aviation Facility (RAF), and the NSF NCAR C-130 and GV research aircraft.

    This role manages aircraft and ground support equipment parts supply, inventory control, and scheduling of outside service vendors for the Flight, Operations & Maintenance Group, ensuring compliance with 41 CFR Warehouse and hangars organization, and provide general logistical support to EOL/RAF, including shipping and receiving.

    Key ResponsibilitiesAircraft Parts and InventoryMaintains aircraft parts inventory in compliance with applicable Government Services Administration (GSA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidelines and regulations.

    Orders parts, tracks and expedites orders, verifies compliance and certification of parts, and replaces shelf-life limited parts for the C-130 and Gulfstream-V aircraft.

    Manages the disposition of 'used,' 'unserviceable,' and 'time-limited' parts. Monitors manages, and replenishes hardware inventory and storage racks.

    Utilizes computerized parts records and ordering systemsLogisticsPrepares all outgoing and receives incoming RAF shipments according to priority and in compliance with procedures.

    Guides the loading of sea containers and air freight in preparation for field deployments, including operating a forklift.
    Prepares project hazardous materials booklets for the aircraft and project management.
    Hangar and Warehouse Organization and SafetyMaintains, cleans, and organizes hangars, including ground support equipment, machine shops, and storage warehouses.
    Monitors safety systems and reports discrepancies using a computerized Safety Management System (SMS).


    Education & Experience REQUIRED:
    A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent AND 3 years of experience (minimum) in aviation warehouse, inventory operations, logistics, and inventory control procedures.

    OR Equivalent combination of training, education (such as a degree in 'Supply Chain Management in Aviation and Aerospace'), and experience in a relative field or industry.


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities REQUIRED:
    Experience with certified aircraft parts management, inspection, ordering and tracking.

    Working knowledge of FAA 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR's).Experience communicating with 3rd party vendors & suppliers regarding price, lead times, and logistics.

    Knowledge of logistics (shipping, receiving, large freight, etc.) and inventory control (warehouse inventory management).Experience with the handling and shipping of Hazardous Materials.

    Strong organizational, time management, and information management skills, including consistent workflow methodology for shipping, receiving, tracking documentation, and disposition.

    Good written communication and interpersonal skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace; ability to work as part of a diverse team, multitask, and take direction from multiple sources.

    Ability to use databases, spreadsheets, and online procurement software such as PartsBase; learn and use cloud-based aircraft maintenance and parts inventory software such as Veryon or similar tracking systems.

    Ability to drive a forklift and become certified in forklift operation.
    Desired but not requiredHold an FAA A&P Maintenance Certificate.
    Experience with large multi-engine turboprop & turbojet aircraft parts management.
    Familiarity with FAA and GSA regulations (41 CFR 102-33, Management of Government Aircraft).Familiarity with EAR and ITAR regulations.
    Prior military experience.
    Familiarity with DOD or civilian aircraft supply systems.
    General knowledge of federal funding procurement policies and procedures.
