Software Engineer Position at GDC IT Solutions

Hiring in Harrisburg, PA Area

Overview:

This role involves handling application and database administration, system design, installation, and upgrade support at a moderate level for various commercial software products in a multiple platform environment.

Responsibilities:

Participate in planning and coordinating software installations, patches, and maintenance across Linux and Windows platforms.
Collaborate with vendors, system administrators, and developers to support tasks and integrate systems with commercial software products.
Assist in implementing security measures using NIST methodologies.
Provide user provisioning and handle database modifications.
Promote software customizations and monitor performance.
Research and troubleshoot issues using various resources.
Maintain database maintenance scripts and disaster recovery plan.
Manage application upgrades and provide support.
Mentor less experienced team members.
Stay updated on industry-specific knowledge and mitigate application vulnerabilities.
Provide administration support for SQL Server and Windows Server.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in IT or related field with 2-4 years of experience.
Knowledge of SQL Server concepts and ability to debug effectively.
Proficiency in Linux, Windows operating systems and scripting.
Understanding of client/server and web architectures.
Knowledge of Safe Agile concepts and purchased commercial systems.
Experience leading projects and mentoring others.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
Ability to configure application solutions from provided specifications.
