    Description
    Position Summary


    Load and haul biosolids from the Wastewater Reclamation Plant Sludge Storage lagoons and backwash sludge from the water treatment plant and transport to agricultural fields in compliance with the Department of Environment Quality guidelines.

    These tasks are illustrative only and may include other related duties.

    Casual, Non-represented position

    40 hours per week, limited duration

    Hours may include overtime and weekends

    Position will work in the Summer and early Fall

    Must meet all qualifications and requirements as listed in thePosition Description.

    Essential Functions


    Operates and drivesan 80,000 GVW Semi Truck and pulls a 6,000 gallon tanker to apply treated wastewater biosolids onto agricultural land in conformance with strictEnvironmental Protection Agency and Department of Environmental Quality guidelines.

    Performs daily vehicle safety checks before operating the truck, and reports any vehicle malfunctions to supervisor.


    Maintains trucks including fueling, routine cleaning, and general and preventative maintenance; assures supervisor is aware of routine service and repair needs of assigned vehicles.

    Operates biosolids loading facilities, collects samples and documents associated record keeping.

    Acts ethically and honestly; applies ethical standards of behavior to daily work activities and interactions. Builds confidence in the City through own actions.

    Conforms with all safety rules and performs work is a safe manner. Practices safe job-site methods while performing duties. Operates a motor vehicle safely and legally.

    Delivers excellent customer service to diverse audiences.

    Maintains effective work relationships.

    Complies with all Administrative Policies. Performs work in accordance with Council Policies and Municipal Code sections applicable to the position.

    Arrives to work, meetings, and other work-related functions on time and maintains regular job attendance.

    Qualifications and Skills

    Education and Experience


    Combination of education, training or experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

    Two years' experience operating CDL Class A vehicles with tanker or successful completion of accredited truck driving training school.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.


    Knowledge and understanding of work-related safety practices, OSHA and environmental rules and regulations, particularly in regards to work in confined space and/or hazardous conditions.

    Knowledge of Department of Environmental Quality guidelines.


    Verbal and written language skills sufficient to read and follow road signs, read and follow standard operating procedures, prepare written reports and communications, and communicate verbally with others.

    Effective communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
    Ability to use ordinary conversational skills and courtesy to exchange routine information and provide routine assistance.


    Ability towork in a team-oriented environment, but also work alone while driving or at a work-site, under supervisory direction while performing duties thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with Department policy.

    Ability to safely drive and operate a truck and/or vehicle. Use appropriate personal protective equipment.

    Ability towork overtime and on weekends as needed.

    Special Requirements

    Possession of a valid Oregon Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tank endorsement and no air brake restriction.
