- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college.
- Current PA license as a registered nurse (RN) or a licensed practical nurse (LPN).
- Medication administration may be required if LPN
- Current certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and basic first aid.
- Experience working with children within a special education program is preferred
- Ability to engage intellectually and physically in all components of the work process
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with all constituents (administrators, colleagues, students, parents, and others)
- Knowledge of correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary
- Ability to use computers and perform clerical skills at a proficient level
- Provides emergency care for ill or injured students and notifies parents of student injuries. In the event a student needs hospital treatment, the nurse or a designee accompanies student to Paoli Memorial Hospital and remains with the student until the parent arrives.
- Manages and controls acute and chronic disease. Carries out policies and procedures for the control of communicable diseases, in collaboration with the PA Department of Health as applies to community and campus support.
- Maintains a daily log of all medication administration, student injuries, illnesses and visits.
- Provide medications to students according PA School Code, PA DOH Regulations, the Division of School Health guidelines, PA DOE Regulations, and Vanguard.
- Supports mandated screenings (BMI, hearing, vision, and scoliosis) and refers students to the CSN if retesting as needed.
- Provide basic first aid and emergency care for staff injuries and illnesses. Immediately reports all staff injuries to Human Resources so that worker's compensation insurer can be notified.
- Ensure medication authorization forms and self-administration medication forms are completed for all medications per Vanguard policy.
- Verify medical conditions and medications prior to field trips. Provide teachers with necessary information. Attend trips to ensure trained staff person executes health plans in the community at worksites and on trips.
- Distributes/implements health protocols as directed by the Vanguard Certified Nurse.
- Manage health room medical supplies recommended by Vanguard Certified Nurse specific to community trips. Communicate with Vanguard full-time nurse and department administrator about any budgetary needs related to health plans for community programming.
- Demonstrate competency in each of the Vanguard core values: Communication and Listening, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Ethics, Professionalism, and Teamwork.
- Comply with all organizational policies and procedures including those stated in the Vanguard Policies & Procedures manual and additional verbal and written communications provided to staff members.
- Maintain a professional, confidential and ethical relationship with administrators, colleagues, parents, students, and others at all times.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, in-service activities, and other meetings as required.
- Maintain proper credentials for assignment and remains educationally informed in all related areas including PDE regulations and state/national standards through continued professional study and attending workshops and conferences.

Minimum Qualifications
Under the supervision of the Certified School Nurse, and the full-time Nurse (RN), the part-time nurse provides school health services to students as defined by the Pennsylvania School Code, the PA Dept.
of Health Division of School Health Regulations, and Vanguard policies and procedures.The part-time Nurse is expected to provide support for student's working and learning in the community as well as provide support and coverage as needed on campus.
The part-time Nurse is expected work collaboratively with other nurses and use good judgment at all times.Specific Duties and Responsibilities
