    Description
    The Staten Island FerryHawks are a minor league professional baseball team playing in the Atlantic League (an independent league partnered with Major League Baseball). The team is owned by Staten Island Entertainment, led by Chairman John Catsimatidis and President Eric Shuffler with investors that include the New York Yankees, Pete Davidson, and Colin Jost. The team was established in 2022.

    This is a great opportunity for ands-on experience in sports communications with a professional baseball team. Interns will have opportunity to network and build relationship in the sports industry as well as develop a portfolio of work and gain exposure in sports.

    We are excited to have students intern with us for college credit. Internships are in person and for a minimum of 100 hours. The summer internship is for-credit only and we will work with you to meet your hourly weekly requirements towards class credit.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Assist with scorekeeping of game through digital scorekeeping software
    • Assist in coordinating communication efforts
    • Draft press releases regarding transactions, game results, player highlights,
    • Draft game recaps for use in social media and fan engagement
    • Draft other baseball content as necessary.
    • Assist with media inquiries and facilitate interviews with players and staff.
    • Assist in maintaining baseball-related info on team website
    Qualifications
    • Must be a college junior, senior or graduate student
    • Must be eligible to receive college credit
    • Must be organized and follow through on assignments.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Recommended for Sport Management, Marketing, Business Management, or communications majors
    • Must be available weeknights, weekends, and holidays to work at home games
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
    • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat Reader a plus
    • Must have working knowledge of social media platforms
    • Well organized with ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
