    Job Description

    Position Overview:

    KIPP NYC Special Education Teachers collaborate closely, both as a team and with General Education Teachers, to strategize targeted interventions for their students. They prioritize diagnosing student challenges and creating personalized programs and strategies to address specific needs. The team supports students with IEPs, diagnosed disabilities, and those at-risk.

    Responsibilities:

    • Teach a rigorous college preparatory curriculum aligning with school and NY State standards
    • Engage students in a high-quality, dynamic manner
    • Utilize data for decision-making
    • Commit to continuous professional and personal growth within a collaborative teacher team
    • Regularly assess student progress and share outcomes with families and peers
    • Offer individual or small group support to students requiring extra assistance
    • Exhibit a determined attitude to ensure each student's success
    • Reflect the school's values in all interactions with students, families, and staff
    Qualifications
    • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills fostering a supportive work environment and embody key character attributes: zest, grit, hope, love, social intelligence, gratitude, and humor
    • Preferably possess a minimum of two years teaching experience
    • Hold NY State teacher certification in relevant content area
    • Minimum requirement of a Bachelor's degree
    • Show enthusiasm for a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture
    • Display a keen interest in enhancing teaching skills by joining KIPP NYC team and family
    • Evidence of improving student achievement levels within KIPP NYC communities
    Additional Information

    Compensation and Benefits:

    KIPP NYC provides a competitive salary spanning from $69,440 to $142,270 per year. Salaries are determined based on an equitable compensation scale considering experience related to the role, NYS certification, and tenure within the KIPP network. Evaluation of a candidate's experience, certification, and tenure at the time of hiring will define the placement on the teacher salary scale.
