    Description
    At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards).     Position Summary


    The BSA Analyst works with the BSA/AML/ITPP Officer to administer the BSA/Anti-Money Laundering Program, fraud prevention, and identity theft prevention program, along with related procedures in accordance with Bank's policies, procedures and applicable federal regulations.

    The BSA/Fraud/ITPP Analyst will perform investigative and analytical evaluations of account monitoring activities to identify and report suspicious activities to appropriate law enforcement entities and to assist in internal investigations and audit procedures to enhance the bank's compliance program.

    Responsibilities are completed under immediate supervision with well established procedures to follow.

    Primary Accountabilities

    Responsible for supporting the Bank in the comprehensive end-to-end processes of the BSA/AML/Fraud/ITPP program
    Maintains the Bank's CTR exemption list and customer files.
    Investigates potentially fraudulent, high risk BSA transactions identified by Yellow Hammer.
    Reviews and validates risk ratings for all new personal and commercial accounts using the AML system risk rating module.
    Performs CIP validation through Qualifile and Penley.
    Establishes enhanced due diligence and monitoring efforts for new customers identified as high or moderate.

    Assists the BSA/AML/ITPP Officer in identifying high risk accounts from information received from other sources (Branch, Loan and Operations staff, legal service of process, Suspicious Activity Incident Forms, and media reports) and establish enhanced due diligence and monitoring efforts.

    Performs independent analysis for cases involving suspicious activity including, but not limited to, structuring, check fraud, cyber security fraud, and kiting for presentation to the BSA Officer.

    Performs analysis of core application and AML system reports that identify potential suspicious activity including recommending cases to the BSA/AML/ITPP Officer.

    Manages alerts of potentially suspicious activity from the AML monitoring system, including analysis of transaction activity and document conclusions in the AML system.

    Reconciles all customers and accounts identified as high risk or medium risk to system reports.

    Performs periodic reviews of all new accounts, using system reports, to ensure that all new accounts have been appropriately risk rated.

    Performs review of the Bank's CIF and other lists for compliance with FinCEN 314a requests.

    Provides recommendations for periodic BSA training to address areas of weakness noted in branch/lending procedures in support of annual BSA program training.

    Remains current with changes in BSA regulations and develop related procedures or revisions to the BSA Program with the BSA Officer.

    Review of Mobile Banking Deposit and Remote Deposits transactions for potential Fraud
    Review of Guardian Analytics for Suspicious Activity in Online and Mobile applications
    Assist with resolving potential OFAC matches.
    Assist BSA Officer with gathering information and documentation for the creation of SAR narratives.
    Validation of CTR information prior to submitting CTR's to FinCen.
    Perform due diligence on all Money Service Business customer's
    Works closely with the BSA Officer to escalate and track all Fraud or Suspicious Activity cases. Files disputes or resolution documents for reported cases of Fraud .

    Assists and trains new team members to use all appropriate systems and ensures new team members are fully trained to perform all aspects of the BSA-Fraud-ITPP Analyst I position.

    Assists with creating procedures, policies and risk assessments.


    The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.

    May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
    Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
    Other duties as assigned.

    Position Qualifications


    Education/Experience:


    Minimum of five of years banking experience including branch/platform experience and knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act, AML, and ITPP regulatory requirements.

    High School education required, Associate's Degree/ Bachelor's Degree preferred.
    Prior experience with BSA/AML software preferred.
    A minimum of two year's work experience In the BSA/AML/Fraud field
    Obtain and maintain BSA Certification with annual training updates
