Job Description

The Shop Foreman plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficiency and profitability of the shop. As a liaison between management and technicians, this individual relays policy and provides feedback on technicians' needs and concerns.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists the Service Manager in achieving goals.
• Manages a team of technicians to optimize their productivity.
• Troubleshoots problem vehicles to ensure timely resolution.
• Road tests vehicles with customers to duplicate issues.
• Provides assistance to customers with questions and concerns.
• Collaborates with Technicians to diagnose vehicle problems.
• Coordinates training for Technicians and ensures timely completion.
• Reviews repair orders daily for recalls and gathers necessary information to duplicate customer concerns.
• Completes labor operations and Technician labor times on repair orders.
• Obtains authorization codes for warranty repairs and ensures correct parts are included.
• Completes comparisons for engine repairs or replacements and obtains approval from General Motors Product Quality Control.
• Secures authorization from GM DVM for warranty repairs after the original warranty has expired.
• Purchases special tools and equipment as needed.
• Tracks internal repair orders, including used vehicles, PDI, accessories, and detail repair orders.
• Ensures used vehicles are inspected, repaired, and detailed within 72 hours.
• Assists with opening and closing the Service Department daily.
• Evaluates shop performance regularly.

Qualifications:

• Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
• Proficiency in dealership computer systems, including Reynolds & Reynolds, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Express.
• Supervisory experience is essential.
• A minimum of five years combined experience in Parts, Service, and Body Shop.
• Valid in-state driver's license.
• Professional personal qualities, including excellent communication skills.
