- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Previous Clinical Care Technician (CCT) experience required
- SGNA GI Technical Specialist Certification preferred
- Applies clinical knowledge and technical skills to assist during Endoscopy procedures under the direction of the physician or RN
- Reviews planned cases and ensures all necessary equipment and devices are available on the unit
- Sets up required equipment in anticipation of cases
- Assists with room turnover, breaking down room and cleaning endoscopy equipment in accordance with infection control guidelines and manufacturer instructions for use
- Oversees the care, handling and maintenance of endoscopy equipment
- Troubleshoots basic technical problems with equipment and initiates repairs as needed
- Maintains knowledge of current manufacturer s guidelines
- Accurately performs the following tasks according to RWJUH policy and procedure, reporting results to RN immediately:
- Vital signs inclusive of BP, HR, RR, temp and SP02
- Blood glucose
- 12 lead EKG and application of cardiac monitor
- Discontinuation of IV therapy
- Obtains blood, urine, stool, or other body fluid specimens
