    SUMMARY:

    Under the direction of the Lead Three Sisters Advocate, the Three Sisters Advocate is responsible for providing trauma-informed services while advocating for and supporting victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

    • Participate in Three Sisters team review meetings as needed to provide status updates to the Lead Three Sisters Advocate to insure effective communication and collaboration between the staff.
    • Participate in the CAP on-call rotation schedule
    • Adhere to all Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe and CAP Program policies and work rules, including strict adherence to confidentiality policies.
    • Provide intake assessments to identify the risks and needs of the client.
    • Provide direct domestic violence and sexual assault advocacy services including, but not limited to:
    • Crisis intervention, safety planning, supportive counseling, transportation, and information and referrals for needed services.
    • Advocate for clients with legal systems, social services, employers, health care, and other service providers to ensure the clients' rights are upheld.
    • Assist victims with the preparation of court documentation and provide accompaniment to court appearances to provide support.
    • Provide medical advocacy to domestic violence and sexual assault victims at area hospitals.
    • Provide domestic violence education and long-term planning to clients.
    • Work with victims to empower them and to teach life skills which will enable them to better access services to become self-sufficient.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential case management records and databases including intake forms, case notes, statistical information, demographics, and referrals.
    • Timely recordkeeping including monthly reports and all other required reports as assigned.
    • Assist in planning and participating with outreach activities to educate the community on program services relating to domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
    • Obtain and Maintain appropriate training and certifications per the CAP Program Manager's staff training plan.
    • Ability and willingness to travel to job-related trainings, conferences and meetings
    • Other related duties as assigned

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.


    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED with three years' experience in Human Services or a related field/oneyear experience working with trauma survivors preferred Or
    • Associate's degree in Human Services or related field and oneyear experience working with trauma survivors preferred.

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    Strong oral and written communication skills required. Ability to work with diverse populations. Ability to interact sensitively with traumatized populations and to handle crisis appropriately.


    Must be at least 18 years of age, have and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driver abstract in accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe's Fleet Policy.


    The successful candidate must pass a test for illegal substances and pass a background check prior to employment being confirmed.

    A list of qualified candidates is created from interviews that may be used for Emergency Hire individuals to similar positions within the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe for a period of six months.
