    Description

    The Programmer is in charge of developing the code needed for various machine tools to manufacture precise parts and instruments. The range of machine tools includes CNC Lathes, Vertical and Horizontal Mills, Fabrication Centers, Laser applications, and other computer-controlled equipment. Supporting machinists in refining and troubleshooting processes by applying expertise in mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining techniques.

    Responsibilities:

    • Review design packages and choose components based on ABEC's capabilities.
    • Develop a production plan for each component.
    • Create machining programs according to the production plan for each component.
    • Design necessary machine fixtures.
    • Determine material sizes necessary for processing components on the work centers.
    • Select appropriate cutting tools.
    • Prepare set-up sheets for each process.
    • Collaborate with scheduling to define a run schedule.
    • Follow a schedule based on an MRP style approach.
    • Provide assistance to machinists when required.
    • Evaluate processes, cutters, and inserts for enhancements.
    • Suggest process improvements.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • 2 years of experience in a machining/fabricating environment.
    • 3 years of CAM Software experience.
    • G-Code / M-Code familiarity preferred.
    • Proficiency in Tool Selection.
    • Experience with CAD and Model manipulation.
    • Competence in Fixture design and fabrication.
    • Background in Machining / Fabrication with knowledge of Machine Tooling Applications, Tooling set-up, speeds, feeds, tolerance, process deviations, and machining processes.
    • Understanding of material types and sizes.
    • Capability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. / 23 kilograms.
    • Ability to use personal protective equipment and adhere to safety protocols.
    • Completion of tasks as delegated.
