    Harbor's Edge is a premier 5-star, resort-style, not for profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located alongside the beautiful Elizabeth River harbor in Norfolk, Virginia. Our community consists of 300 Independent Living Residential Units, a 33-bed (Medicare / private) Skilled Nursing Healthcare Unit, a 33-bed Assisted Living Unit, and 15-bed Memory Support Unit.

    We are looking for a highly qualified Human Resources Generalist/Talent Acquisition professional to join the Human Resources team. The ideal candidate for this full-time, non-exempt, hourly position will have a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience including full employment life cycle, recruiting, onboarding, engagement, employee relations, corrective actions, terminations, work comp, and unemployment. Confidentiality of applicants and employees will be assured, procedures and processes will be appropriately maintained and handled in a timely manner in accordance with industry regulations, current federal, state, local standards, guidelines and regulations and organizational policies and procedures. The work schedule is M-F, 8:30a-5p.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist the Human Resources Manager to build and maintain a network of potential candidates through proactive research and relationship building with key business partners throughout the community.
    • Develop sourcing strategies to build a candidate pipeline to fill high demand positions timely; partner with hiring managers to anticipate current and future needs based on department goals and growth potential.
    • Develop job postings and recruitment advertisements to attract candidates. Track applicants, evaluate qualifications, conduct screening interviews, and schedule interviews with hiring managers as needed, as assist with offer and regret letters.
    • Participate in local and virtual job fairs and networking events, as needed, to brand Harbor's Edge as a top employer in the senior living industry. Assist with partnerships at local/virtual educational institutions to develop relationships and potential pipeline for incoming candidates.
    • Coordinate onboarding with various departments including scheduling Security and Clinic for pre-employment screening for new hires.
    • Ensure proper verification of employment eligibility: Required documentation is received and retained according to federal law, program regulations or company policy compliance (e.g., professional references, licenses, background checks, I-9s, etc.), schedule and follow up on medical screenings for new hires (drug testing, PPD, etc.).
    • Comprehensive understanding of available benefits with ability to communicate effectively with potential candidates and new hires (medical, dental, life, STD, LTD, PTO, 403(b).
    • Prepare and provide various HR reports as needed (e.g., via Paylocity and/or Excel, etc.).
    • May occasionally travel locally for work related functions.
    • Ensure all established HR processes are followed. Consistently strive to improve processes for effectiveness and efficiency.
    • Ensure employee records and HR files are consistently accurate, current, and documentation is appropriately filed in a timely manner.
    • Ensure all applicable licensure and certifications are obtained and verified during initial onboarding and appropriately maintained per regulations and company procedures.
    Requirements

    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or comparable field; or a minimum of three (3) years of work related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience including full employment life cycle recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, corrective actions, terminations, work comp, and unemployment. Previous experience in long-term care, health care and/or hospitality strongly preferred.
    • HR Certification strongly preferred (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP).
    • Minimum of three (3) years of strong customer service/customer facing environment.
    • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws related to recruitment, hiring, employee relations, corrective actions, and terminations.
    • Ability to work effectively with a variety of internal and external partners and customers. Interact with an elderly population in a courteous and friendly manner.
    • Consistently demonstrate exceptional listening, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to utilize excellent negotiation and persuasion skills.
    • Must be highly organized, adaptable, utilize effective time management skills, able to multi-task, and meet deadlines.
    • Highly Proficient in a variety of computer programs and databases including Microsoft Office Suite, ATS, and HCM Systems (Paylocity experience strongly preferred). Strong writing skills in Microsoft Office. Strong reporting creation experience in Excel.
