Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD is seeking an experienced and visionary instructional leader to serve as our next Chief Academic Officer. This is one of the most critical leadership roles in our district — one that will shape the academic direction of PBTISD and directly impact the success of every student we serve.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Superintendent, the CAO is responsible for the strategic leadership of all curriculum, instruction, and academic programming across the district. This leader will drive a student-centered, results-oriented culture, oversee the supervision and development of campus principals, and serve as a key member of the district's executive leadership team. From data-driven decision-making to community engagement, the CAO is the academic heartbeat of our district.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of how effective schools operate, a proven track record of improving student achievement, and the leadership presence to inspire and develop those around them. You should be someone who is equally comfortable analyzing assessment data, mentoring a developing principal, and presenting to the Board of Trustees.
Required qualifications include a Master's degree in education administration, Mid-Management or Principal certification, T-PESS certification, AEL or ILD certification, and a minimum of five years of successful administrative experience at the campus or district level. Superintendent's certification is preferred.
