    Position Summary
    The UNM-Taos Construction Technology certificate program teaches the knowledge, skills, and experience to obtain a career in the dynamic Construction industry. Our faculty are experienced industry professionals who teach hands-on, community-based classes highlighting best practices in construction. UNM-Taos' program serves both traditional and non-traditional students.

    The UNM-Taos Construction Technology certificate program prepares students to enter the competitive construction job market with expertise in various construction disciplines, such as general carpentry, fundamentals of plumbing and electricity, green sustainable building materials, computer aided drafting and design (CAD), OSHA safety protocols, multi-craft core curriculum (MC3) and work-based learning opportunities.

    UNM-Taos is seeking qualified applicants for two full-time Lecturer (open rank) positions (9-month, 1.0 FTE) in Construction Technology (CNST) - $52,000-$60,000 based on education. These faculty positions are being funded by Workforce Integration Network (WIN) and Title III Part F STEM grant funding. Please join our dynamic Career and Technical Education department.     The successful candidates will be expected to assume a teaching load of 9-12 credit hours per semester with release time/course reassignment for administrative responsibilities of helping co-coordinate the program. The primary duties of this position will be to teach lower division construction technology and associated subject code courses and assist with program coordination, which includes but is not limited to, the following:

    Instruction
    Construction facilities/lab maintenance and coordination
    Construction Technology materials/equipment procurement
    Internal and External Committee assignments
    Professional development activities
    Curricular and program development
    Mentoring of students
    Administrative duties as assigned
    A successful candidate will be willing to obtain trainer certifications in MC3 (MultiCraft Core Curriculum) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) during employment.

    This faculty member must be willing to try a variety of instructional approaches, commit to being part of a Professional Learning Community, as well as keep regular office hours each week, and other academic duties. The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to equitable student success in their teaching and the ability to partner with other faculty and staff to increase college-wide student success.

    Principal Responsibilities:

    Prepare and teach courses in the field of Construction Technology to a diverse student population, based on the department/Higher Education Department approved student learning outcomes, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to industry standards and the needs of UNM-Taos students.
    Participate actively in departmental responsibilities including curriculum review and revision, program review, assessment of student learning outcomes, and other departmental activities. Align curriculum to current industry standards.
    Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting student learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
    Respond to all communications (electronic and otherwise) in a professional and timely manner. (Usually within 24 hours, except weekends and holidays).
    Serve as a mentor to students in the Construction Technology program.
    Provide opportunities for students to earn industry-recognized credentials (such as OSHA, MC3, CPR, etc.). A successful candidate will be willing to obtain trainer certifications in MC3 (MultiCraft Core Curriculum) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health
    Administration) during employment.
    Stay current in the field by participating in professional development activities.
    Support department goals through active collegial engagement in decision-making and planning.
    Engage with community organizations related to the construction field.
    Perform other tasks as assigned by the program leader, dean, or other UNM-Taos administrators.
    Technology:

    Demonstrated proficiency in use of computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for Construction Technology.
    Become familiar with online learning management system (CANVAS) to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties (posting office hours, syllabi, etc.).
    Professional Standards:

    Meet instructional deadlines and professional requirements, including attendance certification and submission of final course grades.
    Participate in campus events, including promotional, recruitment events, graduation, and faculty orientations/faculty assembly meetings.
    Maintain regular office hours to assist students and improve student retention and success.
    Embody standards of civility and collegiality in all interactions.
    Comply with UNM-Taos published college policies and procedures.

    Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications:

    A Bachelor's Degree AND professional experience in the area which they are applying to teach. Applicant must have completed a program of study in the discipline or subfield in which they teach, with coursework at least one level above that of the courses being taught or developed;
    OR tested experience that is determined to be equivalent to the degree and qualifies an instructor for the instruction.
    Preferred Qualifications:

    Teaching experience in a post-secondary institution
    Proficiency teaching in a community college environment
    Experience in curriculum innovation for diverse learning styles
    Commitment to being part of a Professional Learning Community
    A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
    Demonstrated ability to work with students at a variety of academic levels
    Experience in academic advising and mentoring, including working with student groups
    Multicraft experience or credentials
    Three years of non-teaching, industry-related work experience within the construction technology or related industry
