    Description
    The Special Event Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing citywide special events and festivals.

    Key responsibilities include supervising staff, development, planning and coordination of special events and festivals and budget for events division and strategic planning.

    This position requires creativity, organization, teamwork and initiative.

    Provides direction and vision for Farmers Branch events and

    festivals including developing and overseeing budgets, layout, operational needs, enhancements, aesthetics, activities, branding and programs.
    Oversees and executes the development, planning, preparation and execution of seven special events and festivals.
    Manage on-site production to ensure smooth execution of events including trouble shooting and clean up.

    Oversee internal and external work crews before, during and after events.
    Responsible for creative revenue generation through ticket sales, merchandise, concessions, sponsorship and VIP opportunities.


    Events Manager coordinates the operation of online ticket sales for the Parks & Recreation Department working with an outside vendor.

    Coordinates with Marketing Manager to ensure event and festival information is communicated to meet marketing and advertising branding, messaging and timelines.

    Works with Tourism team to support the Discover Farmers Branch campaign including providing content for websites, digital and print, strategic planning for the social media outlets and coordinating onsite branding opportunities.

    Coordinates the Stay & Play packages for events with the Tourism Team and local hotels.
    Supervises full time staff including the Event part-time staff, Event Coordinator and Assistant Event Manager.

    Coordinates the collection of data for professional reports for City Leadership including after action reports, participant surveys, strategic goals, performance and proposals.

    Prepares and manage the budget for the Events Division.
    Maintain accurate databases and files for events and perform a variety of administrative activities.
    Serve as a liaison between city departments and community organizations in the coordination of special events.
    Utilizes exceptional customer service skills while providing a safe environment at events and festivals.
    Must be flexible, pay attention to details and exhibit exceptional organizational skills.
    Responsible for regular attendance and arriving to work on time

    Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Tourism, Recreation or related field and five years relevant experience with special events and festivals or equivalent work experience in the field.

    Must have experience working in a fast paced, flexible environment.

    Must possess a valid State of Texas Class C Drivers' License.

    Employment will be conditional upon successful completion of a criminal background check, drug/alcohol test and a motor vehicle review.
    Knowledge of basic office and business procedures, city policies and rules and regulations. Ability to work with a variety of people in a fast paced, flexible environment.

    Ability to organize and coordinate a diverse type of events, enforce policies and procedures, make mature judgements, have regular and punctual attendance.

    Ability to participate in the set up and tear down of festivals and events.
    Knowledge of writing and design principles.
    Knowledge of social media marketing.
