    Job Description

We are seeking a Technical Sales Manager

You can be based anywhere near Chicago.

In this role, you'll work with the Business Development Manger after their customer expresses interest to update their building systems (machanical systems, boilers, chillers, HVAC, water conservation, building controls, LED, building envelope, etc.).

You'll look at the existing systems, and make recommendations on what to update. You'll work with other team members to help develop the framework for these commercial construction retrofit projects. You'll be doing initial project scoping, work on proposal development, and work with contractors and engineers.

A lot of the buildings the team focuses on are school districts, government, military bases, hospital and/or univeristy systems.

This position comes with a base salary plus commission, 3 weeks of vacation, and full benefits. You'd spend more time traveling locally to customer sites than in an office.

    Primary Duties:

    • Collaborate with the Business Development Manager (who gets the sales leads) and cross functional team members to assess the technical and financial feasibility of each project with customers
    • Establish the technical direction, proposed scope and financial elements
    • With the Business Development Manager, lead the development of all required project deliverables from initial qualification through contract award.
    • Assume the role of technical subject matter expert throughout the sales process.
    • Teaming up with Business Development Managers for joint sales calls
    • Evaluating building systems to identify inefficiencies and optimization opportunities
    • Collaborating with internal and external engineers to design solutions
    • Lead efforts with subcontractors and engineers

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or an equivalent technical degree
    • 5 years of professional work experience
    • Preferred: Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Professional Engineer (PE), LEED accredited professional; Certified Energy Auditor (CEA)
    • Willing to travel to customer sites in IL
